||Following a number of requests the EUG has teamed up with a Specialist consultant to offer a free workshop to Premier members covering the future of Data Protection and the implications of GDPR for your organisation, which become law in May 2018. Places are limited so book early. Further sessions will be arranged if demand exceeded capacity.
One IT issue stands above others in terms of importance in 2017 – the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Its impact goes well beyond the IT team; it has wide-reaching implications at board level, and any organisation which does not begin serious preparations in 2017 may struggle to meet the deadline and put itself, and its directors, at serious business risk.
What makes GDPR different is the high and potentially disastrous cost of getting it wrong - the penalties for a serious breach may be substantial (potentially 4% of previous years global turnover or €20m). It applies to every entity that collects, processes, accesses, shares, stores, hosts and/or transfers European personal data both inside and outside Europe – in other words, any organisation that does business with the EU or employs EU citizens. In order to be ready for the GDPR deadline, organisations need to begin preparing now.
This session will focus on…
• European Data Protection Regulation, what it covers and what is changing
• A guide to Impact Assessments
• The role of the Data Protection Officer – do you need to employ one?
• How to ensure Data Protection by Design
• How to ensure effective oversight of your third party service providers
• What to do when a breach of security or confidentiality occurs and what are the penalties
• The actions you need to take to protect your organisation

Places are limited to 2 people per company. This event is suitable for the IT and HR function. Events similar to this are being run over the UK and are charging up to £300 per person to attend.
